Our story

Aavaaram never started as a brand. It began at home, with my mum's simple desire to care for her daughters. When my sister and I were in college, long train journeys, heat, sweat and hectic schedules had taken a toll on our hair and skin. Like many students, we barely had the time to care for ourselves. So our mum started making products just for us at home, using ingredients she knew and trusted.

Naturally, we shared them with our friends too. When they started noticing a difference, they recommended them to others and word slowly spread. That's when I thought, "Why not create an Instagram page and share these products with more people who might benefit from them?" And that's how Aavaaram was born.

To be honest, there was never a grand business strategy behind it. At the time, I was working full-time and doing this purely out of passion and a genuine desire to help people. Even during the lockdown, we continued making and sending out our products from home.

Then one day, we received a call from The Better India, who wanted to feature our story. That feature changed everything. Suddenly, we had a huge influx of interest and customers. As someone who was running Aavaaram with no team beyond my family, I had no idea how to handle that kind of growth. We made mistakes, lost many potential customers along the way, and learned a lot through trial and error. But we figured it out and kept going.

We grew through the trust of friends, family and customers who shared their experiences with others and we now have over 9,500 enquiries. We remain deeply grateful for every person who has been a part of this journey.

Even today, Aavaaram continues to be a family-run business. Every product is still made with the same care and intention that inspired our mum to make those first batches for us years ago. Recently, we also lost our Instagram account that had grown to 16.1K followers. Starting over hasn't been easy, especially with how much Instagram has changed. But we're moving at our own pace, staying true to what we've always done.

We are not here to chase trends. We are here to create honest, effective products that can become a part of your everyday routine, just as they became a part of ours.

We are grateful for everyone who has been a part of it so far and we hope to continue helping as many people as we can with the little products we lovingly make at home.

With love,
The Aavaaram Family
